The Global Supply Management (GSM) Function is recognized as a critical function for business success. Role Purpose:

Leads the development and execution of Global Supply Management s (GSM) Strategic Sourcing strategies for assigned critical categories and/or categories where volume can be leveraged across multiple businesses.

Key
Responsibilities:

  • Develops Strategic Sourcing plans and objectives (short & long term) based on forecasts of future demand and regularly review with key business stakeholders.
  • Act as liaison between the businesses and Strategic Sourcing to ensure alignment with business objectives and strategies.
  • Communicates category strategies regularly with the strategic sourcing teams, businesses and stakeholders.
  • Directs efforts of the strategic sourcing team to evaluate the total cost of ownership for key materials and services.
  • Guides and assists team, as needed, with developing strategies and tactics for negotiations with key suppliers.
  • Conducts or participates in negotiations as needed.
  • Conducts spend analysis on key categories.
  • Ensures global commodity spend across all of Corning is leveraged where appropriate.
  • Fosters Strategic Sourcing team understanding of key manufacturing/business processes and products along with major cost drivers and how the global commodities impact each.
  • Determines when and what supplier and market intelligence is required in strategy development.
  • Educates and communicates with businesses' supply and market intelligence, including future price and market trends.
  • Establishes and owns the Supplier Relationship Management strategy for global categories.
  • Engages in resolution of supply issues with suppliers and end users, when required.
  • Leads and develops all GSM professionals within Strategic Sourcing.
  • Builds a diverse workforce balancing various expertise.
  • Evaluates GSM staff performance.
  • Manages and allocates Strategic Sourcing resources to meet customer needs.
  • Champions and advocates for the Global Buying Policy. Ensures compliance.

Experiences/Education Required:

  • Bachelor s Degree.
  • Previous buying experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years operations, planning, engineering, procurement, supply management
  • Experience as a supervisor.
  • Experience working in a matrix environment or on a cross-functional team.

Desired

  • MBA or advanced business courses.
  • Experience across multiple businesses, division and/or technologies.
  • Experience with global manufacturing and business through work, project experience.
  • Experience in staff or project roles.
  • Certifications (C.P.M., CPSM, APICS, etc.).

Key Success Factors:

  • Provide leadership and/or support for existing or new contract manufacturing operations
  • Identification of new opportunities for use of external manufacturing or asset lean manufacturing in North America
  • Develop supply base of external/contract manufacturing suppliers and relationships in North America as required by Corning Life Sciences

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
