Scope of Position (i.e. projects involved with and role within group):
Primary function is to support research and development of materials by developing and enabling material characterization. The individual will specifically support the development of glass property measurements relating to liquidus and viscosity techniques. The individual must have a solid and sound technical background in Geology, Material Science or Glass Science with extensive knowledge of crystal phases. Additionally, the individual is expected to have hands-on experience with identifying crystal phases. In this role, the person will develop techniques and conduct experiments to determine the liquidus and viscosity properties of glass and glass ceramics. Some glass science and glass ceramics knowledge will be necessary. The individual is also expected to work with other scientists to develop other new thermo-physical methods for non-routine measurements or processes.
