Key objectives:
- In this meaningful role, you will have the opportunity to apply Industrial Engineering and Lean concepts to improve product and information flow, reduce inventory, meet customer delivery, increase capacity, reduce complexity, and reduce costs
- Lead and/or participate in project teams to apply Industrial Engineering tools to yield process and flow improvements with the purpose of reducing cost, growing capacity, or reducing complexity
- Implement Lean fundamental concepts such as value stream mapping and layout concepts for flow and pull to implement continuous flow
- Effectively work with and deliver results across a variety of locations and processes
Responsibilities:
- Lead projects of small to large scope and impact to meet customer expectations
- Facilitate the planning and implementation of workplace flow & layout improvements according to Industrial and Lean Engineering concepts
- Perform cost evaluations and justification analysis; evaluate systems, methods, human factors, workflow, and other opportunities for productivity improvement
- Develop and execute project plans; including requirements, deliverables, resources, timing and risks
- Identify areas of potential productivity improvement; generate ideas and recommend systems, programs and projects
- Communicate ideas and project status clearly and professionally through graphic and written media, and oral presentations. Provide necessary documentation of activities, results, assignments.
- Maintain knowledge of and expertise in the latest developments in the areas of Industrial and Lean Engineering; define their applicability to Corning; develop and apply these systems and technologies through successful projects
- Responsible for the accuracy of work performed; take a can-do approach to ensure quality of work
- Serve as a technical coach for peers / customers as required
Required education &
Experience:
- We require a Bachelor in Industrial or other Engineering / Technical field of study
- Ability to apply industrial engineering skills, including some of the following:
capacity analysis, cost modeling, facility layout development, logistics, process simulation and discrete event model development, implementation and analysis - Ability to apply Lean manufacturing concepts and principles, including some of the following:
cycle time reduction, manufacturing / business processes, Value Stream Mapping, line balance/staffing, work cell design, quick change over

- Experience in Lean transformation of a business and / or manufacturing processes

- Use scientific method and engineering principles to solve problems thoroughly and effectively, using well-designed and executed processes
- Knowledge of basic inventory management techniques, planning systems / scheduling systems, supply chain management
- Determine and recommend the best solution from a series of alternatives within guidelines
- Strong data analysis and statistical skills
- Ability to build effective working relationships with others across the company
- Thoroughly carry assignments to completion
- Sound decision-making and prioritization skills

- Flexibility - You may travel up to 50% domestic and internationally
Hours of work:
- Typically work 8am to 5pm with flexibility for different time zones and shifts
