Physical Therapy Assistants
Corning Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare is seeking Physical Therapy Assistants for our 120-bed Skilled Nursing Facility.
Full Time and Per Diem positions available!

Physical therapist assistants carry out their services beneath the supervision and direction of a licensed PT. Physical therapists rely heavily on their PTA's, so it's crucial that a PTA be able to offer clients a comprehensive plan of physical therapy exercises. PTA's employ many different of physical therapy techniques including physical modalities, deep soft tissue massage, therapeutic exercises like ultrasound, and electro-therapy as well as functional training.
In addition, PTA's commonly assist their patients to avoid losing movement by implementing health and fitness programs for more active, healthier lifestyles. When a PTA examines a client for the first time, they help the PT analyze the individual, and create a therapy program promoting recovered functions and being able to move avoiding impairment and pain reduction. Then, together, the physical therapist, PTA, and individual all work collectively to ensure the objective of the health plan is achieved, calculating client progress, reaction, and well-being while making adjustments as necessary.
PTA Duties Include:
Measuring & recording Residents motor function, strength and muscle performance.
Observe Residents and write progress reports.
Assist Residents in carrying out specific exercises.
Treat Residents with varieties of techniques, like stretching and massage.
Help Residents use necessary equipment and devices.
Educate Residents on how to exercise properly to strengthen muscle and improve mobility.
Maintains Resident confidence by keeping information confidential.
Complies with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements.
Contributes to team effort.
PTA Requirements Include:
Graduate of an accredited PTA Program
Current New York State PTA License
Experience in long term care settings preferred
