Scope of Position:
The role will develop and drive procurement strategies around various professional services categories, will look for opportunities to rationalize our supply base, and bring cost-effective procurement to the businesses by centralizing the strategic sourcing element of this activity
The role will work closely with a wide internal Customers base as well as other Functional Corporate Centers of Excellence in order to identify business and functional customers priorities and closely align with business / functional strategies. In many cases these activities will be performed as part of a cross-functional team but the incumbent will lead the process and be responsible for implementing solutions.
A strong emphasis is placed on doing things differently, and innovative ideas and use of new technology are encouraged to compliment the more traditional ways of purchasing
Negotiate and write contracts, NDAs, RFPs and RFQs
Supplier Relationship Management responsibilities for assigned suppliers
Issue resolution as elevated / needed
Become a Subject Matter Expert for Packaging
Outgoing / strong interpersonal skills for developing solid relationships with suppliers and internal customers
Strong communication skills: can communicate across all levels of the organization globally

Day to Day
Responsibilities:
Develop and execute Packaging Strategies for supply assurance, IP protection, risk mitigation and technical advantage for assigned materials
Research and communicate with the business, supplier and global market conditions and make sourcing strategy recommendations
Identify lower cost opportunities working with technical and engineering communities both in supply and material selection to reduce costs through supplier, material and utilization efforts
Identify, lead and communicate cost reduction opportunities across multiple plants and businesses
Challenges specifications, materials and processes
Develops and / or assists with Strategic Sourcing plans / strategies an objectives (short & long term) based on forecasts of future demand and taking into account economic and currency trends and conditions that affect GSM, the business, and the global commodity sourced
Works with the Business Managers, Global Strategic Sourcing Managers, and Buyers on assigned global commodities to prepare and solicit competitive bids, quotations, and proposals with pertinent specifications, terms and conditions
Develops and reviews specifications, statements of work, performance terms and accept / reject criteria
Conducts negotiations with potential and / or current major suppliers to obtain maximum value
Leads the development and communication of global supply intelligence for assigned commodities (i.e. Market intelligence, cost modeling, low cost sourcing activities, consortiums, etc.)
Develop, maintain and execute Shared Objectives and Service Level Agreements
Champions and advocates for the Global Buying Policy, Ensure compliance
Communicates with team members globally
Develops and cultivates effective relationships with suppliers and owns the Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) process for packaging
Travel Requirements:
20% - travel commitment, this could include travel to Europe and Asia along with the necessary domestic travel
Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:
As the job requires which may exceed 40 hours a week with travel
Required Education:
BS in Engineering or Technical field
Required Years and Area of
Experience:
5-7 years of procurement experience. Packaging engineering background or experience in packaging is highly desired.
