The global Finance Function acts as a proactive business partner, advising and making recommendations based upon financial projections and historical performance. Finance also provides financial expertise companywide and ensures accurate and efficient transaction processing.
Purpose of the Position:
This position would be responsible for ensuring the CLS Division compliance with local regulations, GAAP and Corning policies and procedures. The scope of this role would be to include all CLS Division entities and business interactions. The overall goal of this position is to improve and maintain a robust internal control environment utilizing efficient, standardized processes and accounting treatments across all sites.
Position will ensures that all CLS entities receive the appropriate type and level of training and communication relative to Cornings Internal Control processes. The role will be a key resource used to support the successful implementation of finance/business initiatives to achieve corporate, functional and business goals/strategic objectives.
Day to Day
Responsibilities:
Lead the continual improvement of the CLS Internal Control environment, working with all functions and entities to ensure a common understanding of SOX requirements.
Act as a conduit for information flow, in order to communicate latest developments in internal control to include common trends, themes and focus areas.
Create and implement standardized documentation to incorporate best practices using internal and external benchmarking.
Liaise with Division management to identify areas of risk and develop remediation and/or mitigation plans.
Work with Internal Audit and Technical Accounting group to understand areas of concern and to ensure compliance.
Perform regular entity audits to confirm adherence to Internal Control documentation.
Communicate with audit sites and E&Y to agree on audit scope and ensure consistent understanding of transactions and findings.
Lead post-audit activity to guarantee effective remediation work and retesting.
Would become the SME for Division systems, to include PSSC, Peoplesoft, Blackline, Cognos and FAR.
Co-ordinate the Intercompany Transfer pricing rules and to ensure appropriate accounting treatment.
Act as key resource to provide support during people transitions.
Other tasks and projects as assigned in support of plant and business objectives to include:
Standardized treatment of transactions across entities.
Capital forecasting process improvement
Manufacturing reporting initiatives to support strategic objectives
Required Education:
Bachelor of Science or equivalent technical degree
Accounting or Finance Major preferred. MBA, CPA/CMA also preferred.
Years and Area of
Experience:
3-5 years work experience in accounting operations
Manufacturing/Cost Accounting experience preferred
Required Skills:
Knowledge of financial and management accounting, in particular compliance and reporting requirements.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Adept at interacting and communicating with all aspects of the business, including entity staff and senior managers.
Strong computer skills (Excel, PeopleSoft, Khalix).
Ability to act under pressure in fast-paced environment.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
