Purpose of Position
Plan, edit and write content for Corning World Online, the companys daily digital news center, which will become a portal to the company intranet in 2015. Planning includes coverage of Corporate Communications operating priorities. Position also involves being the lead writer for the news center, the editor of content provided by other writers, and the manager of the news center site. Position reports to the manager of Employee Communications in Corporate Communications, Corning, N.Y.
Ongoing Tasks
Plan, provide, assign, edit and manage news content for the site daily. Specifically:
Write feature stories and news briefs, as needed, for publication
Assign coverage to and manage internal staff writers
Assign coverage to and manage external freelancers
Monitor site functionality, respond to reader feedback, recommend upgrades and refinements to the news center / portal.
Be liaison between the digital news center and subject matter experts and news sources within Corning
Coach and train internal communications specialists in the companys global communications network
Ensure globally diverse news content
Ensure multi-media support for digital news center, such as videos and podcasts
Provide assistance, as needed, with other Corporate Communications needs, such as executive messaging and quarterly earnings presentations
Provide support for the companys external social media program on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube
Support special projects as either writer, editor or both
Work on special project teams as needed to support internal communications initiatives
Required Skills:
Excellent writing and editing skills, including high proficiency in Associated Press style rules
Ability to produce and edit videos
Ability to meet deadlines and adjust to changing priorities
Knowledge of design and functional trends on corporate intranet sites
Strong technical background in communications tools and new media technologies
Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office
Familiarity with technology tools and a willingness to learn more in this area
Ability to manage freelance writers and internal writing resources

Education and Experience
Bachelors degree in Communications, Journalism, English or other related field required. Minimum 7-10 years of experience in corporate communications, public relations, journalism, college communications teaching or a related communications field. Preferred candidates would have a background in writing, editing and content management.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
