Responsible for conducting and documenting moderate to complex financial analysis projects and making recommendations for actions to achieve financial results.
Leverages quantitative competencies and skills in mathematics, statistics and data science to complement accounting and financial analysis.
The Financial Analyst is a hybrid eligible position, meaning that the work location is onsite with the potential for some at-home work.
Responsibilities Financial Planning and Analysis Assists with the scheduling, requirements and preparation of the annual operating budget and the long-range plan, providing detailed reports to management and summaries for Corning Incorporated management and the Museum's Board of Trustees.
Provides timely analysis of daily and monthly actual results compared to budget, forecast and prior year and communicates variances to the Chief Financial Officer.
Assists with preparing regular financial analyses and reporting and communicating results:
to the Leadership Team relevant to managing the business and making decisions in support of the Museum's strategic plan; to management to evaluate financial performance and future trends; and, in support of organizational projects.
Compiles data with analytical tools, shares relevant and recent developments with the Chief Financial Officer, and proactively recommends actions to ensure projected financial results are achieved.
Identifies and notifies management of areas that need process improvements as well as areas that could gain cost efficiencies.
General Accounting Supports the preparation of the month-end closing packet and other monthly financial analysis requirements.
Creates journal entries and prepares monthly account reconciliations, as required.
Assists with other month-end closing responsibilities, as required.
General Supports and amplifies the Museum's commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and access.
Serves as a financial subject matter expert for CounterPoint, Outbound and all other commerce systems for the department.
Also provides back-up support as necessary for those systems.
Assists with analytical requirements for the Museum's constituent relationship management system, as required.
Assists the department with documenting, implementing and reviewing Accounting policies and procedures, ensuring staff compliance.
Ensures continuous improvement to all accounting system activities.
Assists with special projects as requested.

Bachelor's degree in quantitative discipline (Accounting, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance) required.
Minimum two years of experience in a comparable position preferred.
Quantitative approach to analyzing data and solving problems.
Ability to present technical analysis; competence in data visualization is a plus.
Proficient with automated general ledger systems and reporting tools.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, MS Teams and SharePoint.
Can create pivot tables and work with PowerPoint templates and create embedded charts.
Advanced Excel skills.
Solid understanding of financial analysis and accounting policies, procedures, programs and processes.
Comfortable initiating cross-functional communication and coordination of activities.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
Highly accurate, detail-oriented and organized; focuses on follow-up.
Handles multiple tasks under the pressure of deadlines.
Proficiency in organizing and synthesizing complex information succinctly.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent project management skills, and ability to prioritize workload.
Flexibility in hours necessary.
