The candidate will be involved with the Classical Chemistry techniques required for the elemental quantification of glass, ceramics, and glass ceramic material constituents. The candidate will be a technical contributor on research, development, and manufacturing issues related to bulk chemistry and chemical interactions. The candidate will also perform hands-on chemistry techniques, analysis technique development and data interpretation. This will require a pre-existing knowledge of general chemistry techniques, statistical evaluation, or a willingness to learn those areas. It will also require innovation around creative and novel testing methodologies. The candidate will also be responsible for interfacing with various project groups to determine chemical analysis needs and drive these work streams forward. There will be strong collaborations within the emission spectroscopy and mass spectrometry communities, which will require a willingness to work with others and demonstrate strong communication skills. Day to Day
Responsibilities:
o Perform analysis techniques on various materials including glass, ceramics, and raw materials o Chemical analysis support on various technical projects o Coordination of testing conducted within the Classical Chemistry laboratory o Technical project involvement and management o Communication of technical information to a diverse team or project leaders Travel requirements (please note if international):
Between 0-15%, depending on project needs. Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:
40 hrs/week, Core working hours M-F between 8am - 5pm. Some OT may occasionally be required to support critical projects. Education and Experience (minimum required for consideration):
PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science & Engineering, or similar field required Required Skills (These are skills that candidates must possess):
o Design of experiments o Data analysis skills o Chemical analysis design capability to create & implement new testing strategies o Ability to perform lab scale testing to evaluate a hypothesis o Clear communication of technical data to diverse team o Ability to provide technical recommendation to project teams based on prior experience or experimental evidence o Willingness to learn new techniques and equipment o Ability to work well within a team - both within the lab and on a project Desired Skills (these are the skills that would be nice for candidates to possess):
o Understanding of the standard method for rocks and minerals o Statistical analysis of data Soft Skills (Communication/Team/Leadership):
o Must be able to communicate technical information effectively to a broader team o Must work well with others, as much of the lab work is collaborative o Must be able to lead small portions of projects independently o Desire to learn new things and grow in the role o Ability to work on multiple projects at once
Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
Minimum Qualification
