Provide leadership and strategic direction for Manufacturing 4.0 critical skills development. Lead a cross-functional team to identify and develop the emerging capabilities that are needed for successful M4.0 projects, within existing disciplines such as manufacturing process engineering, analytics/ data science, modeling, data engineering, software development, controls, programming, systems engineering. Identify curriculum and methodologies to upskill and augment existing skill set, both within specific M4.0 projects and for more general use. Work with modeling and data scientists to improve the speed and efficiency of applying advanced data analytics methodologies to solve critical manufacturing challenges. Identify opportunities to apply advanced analytics, modeling and machine learning by understanding the business needs and developing project proposals to solve critical problems. Lead impactful Manufacturing 4.0 and analytics-based projects across multiple business groups Day to Day
Responsibilities:
Lead cross-functional manufacturing & engineering projects that include the application of data analytics, machine learning, software development, and modeling. Interface with internal customers to identify areas of opportunity, define project specifications, and work with industry experts within and outside of Corning to expand our expertise in key emerging technology areas. Develop and implement strategies and programs to enhance skill sets that are and will be needed for M4.0 deployment and scale-up across Corning business divisions. Work independently or as part of the team on data preparation, machine learning model development and testing and/or software development & modifications in support of Corning products and manufacturing processes at different stages. Write and maintain relevant presentations, technical reports and support documentation, prepare and deliver relevant user training, and mentor new engineers and scientists. Required Education:
MS or PhD in engineering, computer science, mathematics and statistics, or a related discipline with specialization or industry experience in manufacturing 4.0 key technologies such as data analytics & machine learning. Required Years and Area of
Experience:

years of work experience in development and deployment of machine learning models, such as data mining, time series modeling, computer vision, natural language processing, to solve both academic and business problems. Experience demonstrated through industrial leadership, academic research projects, compelling open-source project contributions or an impressive Kaggle scoreboard Required Skills:
Strong background in applying machine learning techniques to solve industrial problems, using traditional machine learning algorithms, time series & sequential event models with recurrent neural networks, convolutional neural networks, and reinforcement learning, etc. Good working knowledge of the work required to prepare data for machine learning purposes, performing exploratory data analysis, mathematical and programming skills such as Python, R and/or MATLAB. Comfortable working with Windows and Linux parallel processing clusters. Ability to communicate and understand the complex requirements of scientists, engineers and professional staff in the development and deployment solutions and to bridge gaps between domain language (engineering, science) and computing solution language. Strong interpersonal & presentation skills and ability to work as a leader, team player, or individual contributor. Must be a proactive and solution-oriented problem solver. Ability to lead projects, embrace and drive change Desired Skills:
Broad background in Manufacturing 4.0 capabilities such as IIOT, Edge/cloud computing, data lakes/ pipelines, manufacturing systems and advanced ML/AI and computer vision. Knowledge of emerging technologies and algorithms in computer vision and/or machine learning in general, such as attention algorithms, few-shot learning, etc. Experience working with cloud-based services such as AWS and/or Azure. Knowledge of any other programming languages for scientific computing in Windows and Linux environments (such as C/C++, C#, Java). A foundation in software design principles and knowledge of MPI, OpenMP, or other parallel/distributed computing paradigms. Clear dedication to excellence and advancing beyond the current state. $150K -- $200K
Minimum Qualification
