Corning's Display Technologies segment manufactures glass substrates for active matrix liquid crystal displays (LCDs) that are used primarily in LCD televisions, notebook computers and flat panel desktop monitors. Scope of Position:
The HPD Tech Delivery Manager will be responsible for the development and delivery of melting, Forming and Finishing enabling technologies and platforms in alignment with the CDT and HPD (High-Performance-Display) low cost strategy. This position will have reporting relationships into the CDT Tech Delivery organization, as well as the Business Director for HPD. Role &
Responsibilities:
Development and deployment of HPD technology roadmaps and handle HPD Tech Delivery budget. Program management responsibilities for the development, execution and transfer of new platforms and critical component technologies to HPD businesses. Liaison between Process Research, Display Tech Delivery, CDT Division Engineering, and Manufacturing to drive technology innovations into manufacturing and improve processes and costs Fundamental understanding of the melting and glass delivery process and its interaction with new glass compositions Development of enabling technologies which result in cost effective manufacturing and precious metal utilization. Mechanistic understanding of glass compaction behavior and lead workstreams on compaction and TPV (Total Pitch Variation) improvement. Functional management of the math modeling and concept design groups and technical project leader. Technical liaison to the Commercial and Commercial Tech organization for technical issues and problem resolution at customer. Education &
Experience:
We require a MS degree in Material Science, Engineering or similar field We are seeking 5-7 years of industrial experience in glass melting or related field Strong background in glass melting or forming process and equipment understanding Interpret real world physical phenomena using science and apply numerical simulation to describe the behavior. Work well in project team environments and with peer technical review. Effectively communicate technical results verbally and through written documentation. Experience with process engineering in manufacturing Demonstrated track record of on time delivery within budget; ability to drive projects to successful conclusion using influencing tools Lead international teams across multiple initiatives that span various lines of business, geographic borders, time zones, and cultures Desired Skills:
Effectively influence technical decisions. Lead manufacturing process data evaluations, experiments and data analysis. Skilled at conducting and analyzing process experiments using; Process Excellence, statistical DOE, 6 sigma DMAIC and others. MBA or business-related experiences desired.
Salary Range:
$100K -- $150K
