Job Description:
The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies. Through these efforts, IT helps to improve the competitive position of Corning's businesses through IT enabled processes. IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide.
Scope of Position (i.e. projects involved with and role within group):
The IT business analyst will take a leadership role in engaging with internal business customers to elicit and manage business requirements and deliver solutions that meet business needs. Collaboration with internal business customers and various IT service delivery departments will be an essential aspect of the role.
Day to Day
Responsibilities:
Utilizes best practices to execute the elicitation, validation and prioritization of functional & non-functional business requirements.
Develops a strong understanding of as-is business processes through self-directed relationship management.
Develops a strong understanding of technology management methodologies by developing understanding of IT reference architectures and ensures solutions delivered to customers adhere to IT policies and standards.
Collaborates with IT Solutions Architecture and IT engineering departments to ensure solution & process design meets or exceeds business goals.
Participates in solution selection efforts through execution of market research, and RFI/RFP/RFQ and KT evaluation methodologies.
Ensures delivery of accurate project estimates in a matrix organization.
Delivery of the detailed Software Requirements Specification documentation on behalf of internal customers and for the benefit of to various IT stakeholders
Represent business requirements during technology planning sessions with various IT stakeholder groups.
Experience with usability design best practices including wireframes, design mock-ups, voice of customer reviews.
Development of requirements traceability matrices, test plans and development of deployment plans.
May serve as project manager on smaller projects but if so, will be a small part of the job duties.
Travel Requirements (please note if international): Minimal - As required by project activity.
Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time: Standard 40 hour work week.
Required Education (minimum required for consideration):
BS in Computer Science / Systems Management, or an IT-related field
Required Years and Area of
Experience: (minimum required for consideration):
3
years of experience gathering requirements and working with business customers
Required Skills (These are skills that candidates MUST possess):
Knowledge of industry best practices in application development and techniques
Experience with internal standards
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent technical and nontechnical documentation skills
Desired Skills (These are skills that would be nice for candidates to possess):
Experience with reference architectures
Experience developing business cases & opportunity evaluations
Experience working in a large enterprise environment
Experience working in an IT delivery specialty area such as one of the following: Custom Web Applications, Collaboration Capabilities, Commercial Applications, Integration and Business Intelligence platforms, IT Security, Integrated Manufacturing Systems, and Enterprise Business Systems.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
